Pillars

🔗 Orbitals — Pillars Interoperability, Standards & The Standard Trinity.

The core vision is to provide the best possible healthcare to India’s vast population through two broad technical pillars:

  • Electronic Health Records (EHR): A system that captures the complete patient journey—from hospital entry to exit.
  • Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS): Actively assisting clinicians with real-time data, follow-up tracking, and predictive analytics.

A common misconception is that digitizing paper (into PDFs) is sufficient. KCDH challenged the audience to assess the long-term impact of this “unstructured” approach.

Structured vs Unstructured Data Loss Figure: Live Sentiment: Participants overwhelmingly agree that sharing documents instead of structured data results in the loss of Computability and Reusability.

The consensus is clear: modern digital health requires a shift away from document-based exchange (CDA) toward Structured Data. Without structure, hospitals lose the ability to:

  • Compute: Automated analysis and clinical triggers become impossible.
  • Reuse: Data cannot be effortlessly integrated into longitudinal records or research registries.
  • Preserve Meaning: Clinical nuances are often lost in translation or through OCR errors.
